BRIAN ROCHEFORT

Fiery Dawn, 2020

“Fiery Dawn is an extension of the series “Craters” which are inspired by travels to South / Central America and East Africa, most notably the Bolivian Amazon and the Serengeti. Titles give a glimpse into the meaning behind each work I make. In “Fiery Dawn” which is an extension of the overall show title,  based on a doomsday scenario, shows a bright haze hovering over a rich blue texture indicating a futuristic landscape thats both serene and simultaneously layered with merciless pink volumes. What underlies this sculpture is a vocabulary of extinction, destruction, and re-creation.”
